The International Street Photo Festival is an initiative of the non-profit association Camera Lucida.
Our vision is to promote this dynamic art form by providing an international platform for established and emerging photographers to share their work and interact with a community passionate about the power of street photography to tell compelling stories and capture the common human experience.
Our goal is to showcase the variety of approaches that define this vibrant genre of photography.
Means of realisation:
International open call: We invite photographers from around the world to submit their work, ensuring a diverse and global presentation of talent. Curated exhibitions: We will present a curated exhibition of high-quality submissions at the renowned Athens School of Fine Arts, an institution with a history dating back to the 19th century. Workshops and events: We will organise a series of workshops and artist talks to inspire, educate and cultivate relationships between photographers and the public.
Why Athens?
The International Street Photo Festival was born from the simple idea of creating an international event in Athens where unique stories from around the world, as seen through a lens, could converge in one of the most exciting cities on the planet. Athens is a city of enchanting contrasts and has a rich history as a vibrant centre for artists. Following Documenta 14, the most important contemporary art event, Athens has firmly established itself as a hub for international artists and cultural exchanges. We are proud to build on this legacy, and our inaugural exhibition will take place at the renowned Athens School of Fine Arts, a historic institution dating back to the 19th century. This historic venue provides the ideal setting for a photography festival, offering a central meeting point for photographers and the public.
